PARLIAMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF LESOTHO
Thursday, 16th March, 2023
- URGENT MOTION
6. STATE OF ERMEGENCY AS A RESULT OF UNABATING CRIME WAVE
That this honorable Senate urges the government of Lesotho and relevant government departments to introduce sustainable measures that would aid in the fight against a persistent crime wave that has engulfed the whole country, especially;
- armed robberies at residential homes and businesses,
- brutal murders committed by guns,
- white collar crime,
- stock theft, and
- rapes and acts of persecution against women, the elderly and children.
These acts of unbaiting crime have negatively affected the nation as they deprive it of stability, peace and also taint the image of the country internationally. In order to accomplish this colossal feat, the government could establish specialized courts in order to speed up cases and to serve justice.
