LIST OF AMENDMENTS TO THE TENTH (10th) AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION BILL, 2024

Notice given on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025.

Hon. Chairperson of Legislation Committee to move:

  1. In Clause 5, sub-clause 22A (2) line 1 after the word “Parliament” delete the word “may” and substitute with the word “shall”.
  2. In Clause 12 sub- clause 2(b) after semi colon (;) add sub-clause (c) “defuse potential or actual disagreement between the two houses on constitutional matters or any other” and renumber sequentially.
  3. In Clause 18, sub-clause 135G (3) line 1 after the word “of” delete the word “employment” and substitute with the word “service”.
  4. In Clause 22, sub-clause 145(1) line 1 after the word “Security” delete the word “Agencies” wherever it appears in the Bill and substitute it with the word “Institutions”.
  5. In Clause 22 , sub-clause 145 (1) (c) after the word “National” delete the word “ security” and substitute with the word “intelligence”.
  6. In Clause 22, sub-clause 145 delete sub-section (3) and renumber sequentially.
  7. In Clause 22, sub-clause 146 (1) (a) line 2 after the word “subject” delete the word “democratic” and substitute with the word “civilian”.
  8. In Clause 22, sub-clause 146(c) line 2 after the word “gender” delete the following words “sensitive and”.
  9. In Clause 22, sub-clause 146(3) (b) delete the word “not”.
  10. In Clause 22, sub- clause 147(1) line 3 after “full stop (.)” insert the following words “the policy shall”.
  11. In Clause 23, sub- clause 149A (1) line 3 after the word “gazette” insert the following words “for their appointment and removal of security chiefs”.
  12. In Clause 23, sub –clause  149C (5) line 1 after the word “a” delete the word  “head” and substitute with the word “ member”.
  13. In Clause 23, sub –clause 149F (1) line 3 after the last “the” delete the following words  “National Security Council” wherever it appears in this sub -clause and substitute with the following words “ Prime Minister”.
  14. In Clause 23, sub- clause 149K (3) line 3 after the word “Corrections” delete the following words “who shall be answerable to the Minister responsible for the Correctional Service”.
